Hi, I'm Milisa!

Milisa BurnsI am a certified professional coach (ACPC and ACC), transformational facilitator and leader with my own practice, Strategic Evolution Coaching & Consulting, which I founded in 2006. My mission is to empower professional women to create success for themselves on their terms through my Making Room For You coaching and facilitation programs. On the outside, my clients tend to be very “successful”, but inside they may initially be very stressed, full of questions, possibly bored and no longer fulfilled. They may feel a yearning, a strong pull toward something greater that they have not been able to Make Room for in their lives and work on their own. Working with me, my clients are amazed at how quickly they create peace and contentment while achieving and contributing at even higher levels than they previously thought possible.

I trained as a coach at Adler International Learning. I also have a BA from McGill University and a law degree from the University of Toronto. I practiced law for six years, both privately at Stikeman, Elliott as a corporate lawyer, and in-house at Call-Net Enterprises, which owned Sprint Canada. At Call-Net, I enjoyed, in particular, working on human resources issues, which ultimately led to my interest in coaching. I then spent time as an at-home parent to my three children here in Toronto. During that time I was a very active volunteer at Metro Mothers’ Network and developed extensive experience in facilitating groups. I am a certified positive psychology coach as well as an Assessor for Six Seconds – Emotional Intelligence. I am currently in training to be a Certified Transformational Feminine Power Coach, Facilitator and Leader. I have been married to my law school sweetheart, Andrew, since 1991.

I have been a speaker for the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the University of Toronto Law School and various private law firms. I have been blogging on this site regularly since 2010 and offer a bi-monthly free newsletter that is very well received, which you can sign up for at the top of this page. I am also a regular blogger on attorneywithalife.com and localparent.ca.

My coaching practice focuses on professional women in high stress work environments, including physicians, accountants, lawyers and business women and I support these women using the Making Room For You coaching and faciliation programs and the work-life synergy process I have developed. I coach one-one and in groups, and also offer one-off workshops. Journaling for self-reflection is an important part of my programs. I believe strongly in the power of journaling for self-awareness and offer a free online secure journal to those who are interested.
