International Women’s Day - Empowering & Galvanizing

On this International Women's Day, let's be a stand for embracing equity.  Equity is how we get to equality, to gender parity.

That we women need help gathering our strength again is an equity issue. That we are willing to ask for and co-create this support is a sign of our already existing strength. However, we are actually even stronger. And we need help gathering that strength back in.  It's more than time.

We've been shamed, denied, gaslit, crushed by others, by society and most devastatingly, by our own selves. Why? Because we've absorbed the harmful myths of a society steeped in the toxicity of patriarchy. This has been going on for more than 2,000 years!

We need tools, practices, conversations and community spaces where we can safely gather in our strength again.

So we can remember who we are.

From this more empowered, more whole state, we can access the energy, wisdom, love and joy to live, work and relate to others in meaningful, fulfilling and helpful ways. We can contribute to creating a more balanced, sustainable world. There's so much to do!

Today and beyond, let's #EmbraceEquity together and each take one step at a time toward it. A #SmallButMighty action is more than enough to start.

Ultimately, everyone will benefit. When women get stronger, the world gets stronger.

I know men are suffering too. I see it every day. Men's suffering will not end until women are supported to meet men on a level playing field through equitable practices and structures.

So, let's take some action - read on for suggestions:

- If you're a woman or non-binary person, seek out a safe psychological space for yourself where you can go regularly. At first it might be easier to find that space with at least one other supportive person, and then progress to making it for yourself as well.   (I know it may seem counter-intuitive to be able to connect more effectively with yourself in the company of others, but I’ve seen and experienced this time and again. Truly, “we cannot become ourselves by ourselves.“ - Claire Zammit)

- If you're a man, be an ally.  Be supportive of the women and non-binary people around you.  Help them find and access these safe spaces regularly.  Ask them what support they need.

We women need help gathering our strength to meet our needs, the needs of our families and of the world. It's more than time!

What’s one small but mighty action you can take today to #EmbraceEquity?

Wishing you an empowering and galvanizing International Women's Day and beyond...
